The Best Mother’s Day Catering Stores
April 27, 2021
A few of our favorite online offerings this Mother’s Day
Historically, Mother’s Day takes the cake as one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants. With the holiday fast approaching, diners are quickly making preparations to celebrate, both on-premise and off. Even as we edge closer to a post-pandemic world, diners will continue to look for alternative ways to celebrate Mother’s Day this year while still supporting their favorite restaurants. For restaurants and diners alike, the solution is an online catering store. We put together a comprehensive list of our favorite restaurants and bakeries that offer catering directly through their website.

Virtue, one of Chicago’s most celebrated restaurants offers its guests Mother’s Day brunch boxes, such as the “Salmon Brunch Box” and “Steak Brunch Box” which both feed two people. To promote more orders, Virtue adds its offerings to the navigation menu of the website under “Mother’s Day Orders”. We can’t help love their play on words with the headline, “A Mother’s Love is a Virtue.”

With a growing number of locations across the east coast, Emmy Squared offers its customers an engaging, interactive and delicious Mother’s Day experience. Visitors to the website can purchase Mother’s Day Pizza and Cocktail Kit + Pizza Making Class. It’s a fun, creative way for Emmy Squared to celebrate and show appreciation for participating families while offering a new way for customers to engage with the brand.

If on-premise dining is out of the question this Mother’s Day, loyal followers of Jean Marie Auboine Chocolatier can purchase an assortment of “Mother’s Day Double Sea Salted Caramel Box”. Chocolates make a great gift any time of the year and especially won’t disappoint on Mother’s Day.

Atlanta’s beloved The Little Tart Bakeshop promotes a few offerings for Mother’s Day this year including their “Lemon Olive Oil Cake” and a “Mother’s Day Cookie Box”. As a means of driving more visitors to make a purchase, The Little Tart Bakeshop adds a “Mother’s Day <3” tab to the sparse navigation. This increases orders for visitors who are intent on finding seasonal menu offerings.

Another beloved Atlanta hot spot is Whiskey Bird, a popular Asian-influenced, new-American restaurant. Their sister takeout concept, Little Bird, offers “Mother’s Day Brunch Takeout” complete with a French Toast Casserole and Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Casserole, among other brunch classics. Diners can opt-in for a bottle of sparkling wine for an additional fee — which, why not?

Specialty cakes are one way to celebrate mother’s this Mother’s Day. No one does them as Sugargoat Sweets does in Chicago. Stephanie Izard opened Sugargoat Sweets following an appearance on Iron Chef and opening four highly-awarded Chicago-based restaurants. From treats that look like flowers to fully decorative cakes, guests of Sugargoat Sweets can purchase a variety of options online for their Mothers this year.

Last, but not least, is OMG Brigadeiros. What mother wouldn’t want a 450-gram chocolate heart? The Brigadeiro is Florida’s first, bringing a unique Brazilian treat to the sunshine state. Guests can order the “OMG Cake - Mother’s Day Edition” with strawberries, a box of chocolates and yes, a single 450-gram chocolate heart filled with Brigadeiro (condensed milk with chocolate) and Nutella. We’re sold.

Steps away from George Washington’s historic estate is Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant. This year for Mother’s Day, diners in the Mount Vernon area can order “Mother’s Day To-Go” for two, four and six guests. Each package includes a choice of protein, an array of sides and a choice of dessert. Guests can even choose to take it up a notch with a fresh mimosa kit or a few bottles of red wine.

Deep in Louisiana, just south of Lafayette is the town of Maurice, where Village Deaux operates. Village Deaux offers its guests a Mother’s Day treat, their famous Gentilly “Queen’s Cake” — a play on the notorious King Cake that is a Mardi Gras tradition. Guests can simply visit the website to preorder for pick up just in time for celebrations.

Coming from a strong culinary and banquet background, VIPS Catering is a full-service catering company strategically located in the heart of D.C. Visitors to the site can navigate to their online catering store under the “Order Meal Kits” button where they’ll find an array of catering options. For Mother’s Day this year, guests can order their “Mother’s Day Special Course Meal” with options like sushi rolls, seafood pancakes and chicken skewers.
While things begin to return to some semblance of normalcy, this upcoming Mother’s Day will certainly look different than those of the past. These examples are inventive ways that restaurants can offer alternatives to their normal operations. For their guests, it’s a new way to engage with their favorite brands and celebrate loved ones at the same time.
